Porto/Braga Trip – Part 6 (Save The Best For Last)

Most people tend to save the best for last and I am no exception. When I was a kid, I loved to save the food I liked the most for last and thus the taste of it could linger in my mouth. Now I love applying the same theory on traveling so that the unforgettable memories of it would keep me very content.

Livraria Lello (Lello Bookstore) is one of the oldest bookstores in Portugal and consistently being considered as one of the top 10 bookstores in the world. Rumor has it that the bookstore was part of an important inspiration forΒ  JK Rowling to write Harry Potter’s library scene in Hogwarts as she enjoyed having coffee at the cafe of the bookstore during the time she lived in Porto back in 1990s.

Its fascinating story already aroused my interest in visiting the bookstore, but what made me decide to go there desperately was actually its intricate interior design.

Honestly, I was extremely nervous on the day I visited the bookstore. That nervousness was almost no different from the butterflies I get when I have a crush on someone (please don’t ask me when was the last time I had a crush on someone) πŸ˜›

The cramping sensation from my nervousness went away immediately once their staff opened the bookstore. When the crowd was fighting for a good spot to take pictures, this astonishing masterpiece made me hold my breath in awe. I had a hard time to understand how time travel actually happened. I lived in a modern world just 5 minutes ago, but almost everything had changed into Neo-Gothic style after I stepped into the bookstore. All I saw was a world of old glamour infused with romantic vibes.

Before I was deeply hypnotized by the facade, there was an aura from above caught my attention. It led me to the second floor where I saw a stained-glass skylight. Although the facade captured most of the attention from visitors, the stained-glass skylight was as attractive as the facade in my eyes. It directed natural light to the bookstore created a great contrast to the wooden decorations. Such an impression sank deep in my heart before I left the bookstore.

Being able to tick Livraria Lello off my bucket list uplifted my mood for the rest of the day and got me ready for Braga.

It only took me an hour to go from Porto to Braga. The minute I arrived here, I already started loving this city. Watching the sky changed from a lighter sky blue to a darker sky blue presented itself as a natural art gallery was enjoyable. Soaked in its rich cultural atmosphere and imagined that I was lucky enough bumped into a storyteller to tell me historical stories of Braga – from the time when it was once a significant metropolis of the Roman Empire to present.

Simply walking around already took me more than 2 hours, I almost forgot the ultimate reason why I had to go to Braga was to visit Bom Jesus do Monte – a Portuguese sanctuary.

IMG_9132

Standing at the entrance of the sanctuary, I already felt its special vibes.

IMG_9191

When I took my time to appreciate the surroundings, I found a miniature chapel placed at each corner of the stairway that led me to the major site of the sanctuary. I originally planned to go all the way up to the main site, but the chapel and the luscious green trees altogether created one of the most beautiful fairy tale scenes stopped me from doing so.Β  Instead of stopping and staring at the scene, I closed my eyes and let it rejuvenate me with the tranquility here.

When the Baroque staircases placed in a zigzag form stood in front of me, it was the moment of truth. I finally came to know what its hype was all about. Camera could never do its justice for how magnificent it looked. Words could never describe the feelings I had when I first saw it.

Enjoying a breathtaking view at the stairway left me speechless. I felt like I was on top of the world with the sun as my companion. ❀ What else could I ask for? πŸ˜€

My Queen of Blur

A while back I saw a lot of you joined the blurry photo challenge and it somehow inspired me to create this post. My lovely kitten “babe babe” has recently become a favourite of mine and I always wanted to take some photos of her. Unfortunately, I can hardly capture her because she loves to stick with me all the time. Whenever I have to use bathroom, she will wait outside the bathroom. Whenever I try to take a shower, she will try to sneak in. Whenever I try to take pictures of her, she will use her sweetest tricks to keep meowing and walking around my legs in order to distract me from shooting and make me play with her. Therefore, the pictures of her often came out blurry. But well I guess blurry pictures can be good, especially she is such a cutie. ❀

Queen 1

This is the look she often gives when she wants me to play with her.

Q1

I think she looks like a littleΒ squirrel in this photo. What do you think?

QQ 1

Look! This is exactly the trick she used to distract me. How can I escape from her sweetest playful wink? πŸ˜›

Babe 2

This is what you should do when you have an itchyΒ scalp πŸ˜€

Just keep doing it if it is still itchy πŸ˜›

Babe 22

Hey mommy! Check my teeth!!! Aren’t they perfectly clean and shiny (I just brushed them hehe)? πŸ˜‰

I don’t do spray tan or anything, but I do take natural tanning seriously. Wanna join me mommy? πŸ˜›

This is the face she makes when she is not being playful. Somehow she looks like she is begging me for treats πŸ˜€

Hope you all enjoy this post! Have a wonderful day! ❀

A Relaxing Day With My Sleeping Bear

Many of you know I’m a big fan of art and yoga, but quite a lot of you might not know I’m a cat lover. I have 12 cats at home. I call them my best friends. I love talking to them whether I’m happy or not. They simply make me happy even they are not doing much to impress me πŸ™‚ . I also find it very relaxing to watch their movements (e.g. yawning, smiling, playing, eating, running, etc). I always wanted to take pictures of them, but they just ran away right before I take a snap. Finally, I captured one of my favourite cats “Big Bear Bear” when he was sleeping. πŸ˜›

IMG_3397He was sleeping like a baby when I was trying to take his pictures secretly. Shhh…I was trying to do it as quiet as I could. Otherwise, he will run away like what other cats did to me.

IMG_3358

What a fail! 😦 I got caught by him on the spot!!! He was giving that look to tell me not to take his pictures anymore.

IMG_3399When he knew giving me that look wasn’t good enough to scare me away, he was trying his best to come up and walk away from me. But he was way too tired to do so…couldn’t even open his eyes lol πŸ˜›

IMG_3394

Instead of walking away, he just wanted to yawn so badly…

*huuuooouuuaahaa*

IMG_3402

Fell back into a deep sleep immediately lol πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ That was sleeping bear πŸ˜›

Let me know what you find it relaxing to do in your spare time all my beautiful souls. πŸ™‚

My recent trip to Thailand

DSCF9806 faburlifekhloe

I took a trip to Khao Lak (Thailand) few weeks ago.Β  I’ve been to Thailand twice before, but I’ve never been to Khao Lak. Khao Lak is just an hour something away from the famous location Phuket. After landing, I couldn’t wait to get into the car and go straight to the resort. However, it took me more than an hour to clear the customs before I could step out the airport. Poor driver who picked me up from the airport has waited me for a long time and he could still greet me with a nice smile. πŸ™‚

I couldn’t believe what I saw from the lobby, the pools and everything when I reached the resort. It looked even prettier than what I saw from the website. Everything at the resort was nicely designed with a relaxing vibe. ❀ All the rooms closer to the main pool were pretty much in family style. The other side of the resort was full of villas which were much more laid-back in style. The villa I stayed at Β was absolutely stunning. πŸ˜‰ The interior design was modern without losing its relaxing vibe. Whenever I was in the villa, I just felt like sleeping. I guess it was all because of its comfortable low platform bed. A lot of time I was struggling to decide whether I should go outside or keep hugging my comfy bed. πŸ˜€

Obviously, I still chose to go outside to explore here and there not to waste a wonderful opportunity to see all the beautiful things around. I discovered a beach with gorgeous sunset was just few minutes away from my villa. Β There were few restaurants near the beach and it was where I loved to have my lunch and dinner. The most amazing thing having my meals there was to see how the color of the sunset changed. It changed everyday (from reddish to orangey, from orangey to yellowish, sometimes purplish with a hint of blue and sometimes a mix of all these colors). It was like an art gallery on live. Apart from that, I also loved to observe how Thai live their lives while enjoying my meals. They are incredibly polite. πŸ™‚ They always have a niceΒ  smile greeting others with “Sawasdeeka” (means “Hello” in English) whether they are stranger to them or not. They are very laid-back and live a simple life. Majority of them don’t stress too much about money, but to focus more on happiness. The food there was pretty decent. If you ever have time traveling to Thailand, I would highly recommend their fried stuff. Their pineapple and banana fritters were what I enjoyed the most. They were very crispy, but not oily at all. Moreover, they were not overly sweet and heavy. πŸ˜›

After few days of relaxing at the resort and a day of shopping at Khao Lak Centre, I decided to explore Tachai Island. Tachai Island is a relatively new tourist spot for snorkelers and scuba divers in the world famous Similan Islands. Before I joined the local tour for this trip, I thought I would only go there to sunbathe. I never thought I would go for snorkeling because I seriously can’t swim. However, this trip has completely changed my mind about snorkeling. Everyone was wearing their life jacket and ready for snorkeling once the speed boat reached the middle of the sea. They jumped into the sea one by one when I was still struggling to decided whether staying on the speed boat. Eventually, I made one of the bravest decision of my life was to wear the life jacket and try snorkeling. I tried my best to swim properly in the sea, but I kept rolling like I was put into the washing machine. 😦 The tour guide had to send a swimming expert to help me at the end. Honestly, I couldn’t be more thankful to have him to help me with snorkeling. πŸ™‚ If he wasn’t there to help me, I wouldn’t be able to snorkel. He gave me an extra life jacket to hold on so that I could stay balanced. Then, he kept pulling the life jacket from the other side to lead me to different spots in order to see the sea corals. During that 40 minutes of snorkeling, he used only one hand to pull my life jacket and the other for swimming. Whenever he saw beautiful fishes and sea corals, he would instantly ask me to look down to see how beautiful they were. ❀ Whenever he saw water going in my mask, he would help me clear it. Although I’ve never snorkeled before, I knew how difficult it was to do all of these things in the middle of the sea.

Β DSCF9747 faburlifekhloe

After the snorkeling session, we all headed to the beach to relax. The moment I stepped on the sand, I could feel how soft and powdery the sand was. It was nothing, but a soft cushion wrapping around my feet. Β Need not to mention, the water was incredibly clear. The spectacular view from the beach was completely surreal.Β  I felt like I was living in a calendar printed with a gorgeous beach. No wonder the Island is often referred to as the Maldives of Thailand. ❀ πŸ™‚

Β DSCF9917 faburlifekhloe DSCF9818 faburlifekhloe

To summarize my entire trip, It was truly an amazing trip. The resort itself was impressive. I couldn’t find anything to complain from its design to facilities. I could stay at the resort my whole trip without getting bored. Everyone I met during my trip was very polite whether they were complete strangers on the street or serving me at the resort and restaurants. Their willingness of greeting others not only impressed me, but also brightened up my day. Obviously, the trip to Tachai Island was the highlight of my trip. ❀ I was beyond blessed to be taken special care by the swimming expert. I wouldn’t know how beautiful the view from underwater could be if he wasn’t there to help me. As a person who can’t swim, I’ve never dreamed to see that view.Β  Honestly, the clear water and white sand at the beach had blown my mind away. I never thought the actual view could be this vivid and stunning. It looked way better than what I’ve seen from TV, magazines or promotional leaflets. πŸ™‚ After this trip, I learned to appreciate the nature more. With all the digital gadgets we have now, we often forget how wonderful the nature is. Nowadays, I love to look up to the sky and take a moment to appreciate the nature and what I have. πŸ˜‰

I wonder if there are some beautiful places you would like to recommend. What do you like the most from the place/ places you recommended? Please feel free to let me know in the comment session.
